If you have a daughter who loves ballet and wants nothing more than a ballerina party, you have a wonderful opportunity to turn this desire into a happy memory.
Some of the keys to success is to insure the party is festive, creative, exciting, and fun for all who attend. In the process, just remember to keep things cost-effective, manageable, timely planned, and resource friendly.
You’ll want to start a party notebook to keep track of all the ideas that pop into your head, along with writing down all the “to dos” that must be done. Don’t be deceived into believing you can remember it all. Yes, writing things down is time-consuming, but in the end it is an invaluable tool that will serve you well as you use it as a guide in accomplishing all of the tasks set before you.
To save a little green, start by assessing what you have on hand. Host a quick planning session of your teen helpers and moms of the kids who will be invited to the party. Serve a few ballet-themed goodies from a local bakery, play some ballet music in the background, and be sure to request everyone bring their ballet-related items that you might be able to beg, borrow or steal away for use at the ballerina party.
Be sure to invite everyone to brainstorm ideas for decor, music, costumes, food, invites, favors, etc. The creative juices will begin to flow and the excitement will start to mount as everyone gets into the spirit of things. This is a great way to ultimately host a fabulous party. Everyone contributes their best ideas, takes part in creating the final outcome, so naturally everyone has a great time.
You might even consider lightening your load a bit more and have each family contribute one item of food to the party, with the host just providing the cake and punch.
A ballerina party certainly calls for glitz and glam and creating such an atmosphere will certainly be a hit with all your little ballerinas. Use some teens to decorate your party area; they can be an invaluable resource for this purpose alone.
Be sure to designate an area for the prima ballerinas to perform for all the parents. Have those creative art department teens create the stage by building a forest and perhaps a glittery lake.
Speaking of center stage, the birthday cake will need to make a spectacular ballerina statement. Whether you opt to create it yourself or enlist the help of a local bakery, just be sure to plan ahead and allow enough time to accomplish the task at hand.
Lastly, enlist some teen photographers or perhaps a parent or two to take photos and run a camcorder. You’ll want to be sure to capture all the fun so the party can be re-lived in years to come.
Taking the time to plan accordingly and going the extra mile will indeed give your daughter a lifetime memory. You’ll both always remember this event fondly and hold it near and dear to your hearts.
